JOB TITLE: Content Writer
JOB LOCATION: Nigeria
JOB DETAILS:
As a content writer, you’ll be working with teams across the company (and sometimes across countries) to create valuable content to educate our customers and wow our prospects. Your work will have you fiddling with taglines on website pages, writing blog posts for feature announcements, putting together thought leadership posts for guest publications, sketching educational collateral, framing scripts for feature videos, building presentations to better explain features and so on.
- Completing writing projects, meeting deadlines and following content requirements in terms of style and project specifications.
- Optimizing articles for SEO and accessibility, developing content for blogs, email marketing campaigns, sales collateral e-books, , video scripts, infographics, articles, product descriptions, social media, and the company website.
- Identifying gaps in content and recommending new topics, editing content to ensure voice, grammar and style is on point.
- Conducting in-depth research on industry-related topics in order to develop original content.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging, branding and style.
- Proofreading content for errors and inconsistencies, editing and polishing existing content to improve readability.
- Conducting keyword research and using SEO best practices to increase traffic to the company website.
- Research industry-related topics (combining online sources, interviews and studies) and ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone).
- Communicate and cooperate with a writing team, including a content manager, editors, and web publishers.
- Develop related content for multiple platforms, such as websites, email marketing, product descriptions, videos, and blogs.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of key performance indicators (KPIs) to offer suggestions for improvement.
- Use search engine optimization (SEO) strategies in writing to maximize the online visibility of a website in search results.
Requirements:
- Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio.
- Ability to work independently with little or no daily supervision.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with different objectives simultaneously.
- Good time management skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary.
- Proficiency with computers, especially writing programs, such as Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proven work experience as a Content Writer, Copywriter or similar role
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task projects and deliverables.
- Familiarity with web publications, hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
- BSc or equivalent in Marketing, English, Journalism or related field
- Tech-savvy with the ability to make complex technical matters easy-to understand even for non-technical people.
