Job Title: Culinary Instructor / Tutor
Location: Nigeria
Job Description
- We are looking for a Chef Instructor for the delivering of high-quality culinary education to our students. This includes developing lesson plans, teaching cooking techniques, and evaluating student performance.
- The Chef Instructor shall foster a positive learning environment, inspires students, and ensures they acquire the skills needed for a successful career in the culinary industry.
Responsibilities
Instruction and Teaching:
- Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive culinary lessons.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and skills through hands-on instruction.
- Teach theoretical aspects of culinary arts, including nutrition, menu planning, and kitchen safety.
- Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
Curriculum Development:
- Create and update course curricula to reflect industry standards and trends.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments.
- Integrate contemporary culinary techniques and innovations into the curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula with program goals.
Student Assessment:
- Assess and evaluate student performance through practical exams, projects, and assignments.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to guide their development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
- Conduct periodic reviews to ensure students meet learning objectives.
Classroom and Kitchen Management:
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
- Manage kitchen operations, including equipment maintenance and inventory control.
- Enforce health and safety standards in the classroom and kitchen.
- Supervise students during practical sessions and ensure proper use of equipment.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated with culinary trends and advancements in the industry.
- Attend professional development workshops and training sessions.
- Participate in industry events and networking opportunities.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist in student recruitment and admissions processes.
- Provide support in planning and organizing culinary events or competitions.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by the institution.
Requirements
Education:
- Culinary Degree or Diploma from a recognized institution.
- Advanced certification or degree in culinary arts, education, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
- 4 years of professional experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen.
- Previous teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in menu development and kitchen management.
Skills:
- Strong culinary skills and expertise in various cooking techniques.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of current culinary trends and industry standards.
Certifications:
- Certified Culinary Educator (CCE) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Food Safety Manager Certification (e.g., ServSafe) or similar.
