- Supervise and manage the operational, human resources, administrative and financial functions of the Sub-Office in accordance with the Organizational regulations and procedures. Execute responsibility for the recruitment and capacity building of local staff.
- In coordination with the CoM, Project Development Officer and Project Managers, lead the development of new and ongoing emergency response programmes in Northeast Nigeria, including the Sub-Office Operations in Maiduguri and provide guidance to the Emergency Response.
- Develop and maintain close liaison with local authorities, assistance actors (including NGO’s and UN Agencies), and with the United Nations Mission in Maiduguri. Represent the Organization and participate in coordination meetings at the State level vis-a-vis the Government and partners.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- Practical experience with international organizations, in development, implementation and evaluation, and/or project implementation and management;
- Experience in Camp Coordination and Camp Management, ES/NFI, Shelter, DTM and project management and/or coordination;
- Experience in coordinating complex programmes and engaging with multiple partners and stakeholders;
- Familiarity with different project cycle steps and donor relations;
- Experience in liaising with government authorities, inter-governmental institutions, other national and international institutions and national and international NGOs;
- Previous experience working within the region is an asset; and,
- Knowledge of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) protocols and experience working in phase III (or above) security environment.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of the broad range of migration-related subject areas dealt with by the Organization;
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming;
