- We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HSE Supervisor who will be responsible for the key areas of Health and Safety and sustenance of deliverables.
- This position reports to the Health and Safety Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Work 12-hour shift (Day/Night)
- Conduct regular safety audits, maintains database and ensures compliance with federal, state, local and environmental regulations pertaining to employee health, safety and the environment.
- Administer risk management programs, including ensuring good standard operating procedures are available for every task
- Apply problem solving tools to get to the root causes of safety issues and propose countermeasures to mitigate them
- Ensure the daily VM boards are updated, and soft copies maintained on TEAMS
- Monitor and close out all observations captured on Leader-Led Gemba & Critical Control Assessments
- Coordinate safety drills, assess responses and proffer improvements
- Ensure every person assessing the terminal is properly inducted and conforms to set standards
- Ensure that all safety related training are timely completed without losing focus on compliance to standards and supporting other functions.
- Conduct need analysis to determine training needs based on existing and projected processes, new equipment/systems, organizational/functional changes and other factors. Train and mentor other safety professionals
- Ensure that key elements of the Terminal Performance Report are accurately captured and maintained
- Provide timely incident reporting, investigation and close out of all actions
- Develop HSE bulletins and Learning packs as learning points from incidences.
- Ensure that all HSE reporting systems are up to date and accurate
- Ensure a water-tight Permit-to-work systems for high-risk jobs. Review JSAs, RAs etc
- Design practical approaches that support cross functional teams to integrate safe behaviours into everyday activity
- Track prevalent medical conditions at the site clinic and initiate innovative and strategic ideas to drive better health of personnel at work
- Conduct frequent facility inspection to engender a conducive work environment
- Influence and support cross functional teams to sustain continued development of HSE culture and operating best practices
- Maintain 5S in the HSE office, store etc
- Monitor the use of the HSE van and proper maintenance of same
- Have excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication skills (both written and oral), time management skills including multi-tasking, prioritizing, and the ability to plan work activities efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Provide mentorship to the HSE Officers
Requirements
Who we are looking for:
- A University Degree, HND or its equivalent in Environmental Management, Engineering or any Health and Safety related fields
- At least Six (6) years-experience in the HSE field
- NEBOSH/IOSH Certifications, membership of ISPON
- Very good knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office Tools (Intermediate Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Good analytical abilities
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate across the strata of the organization.
- Must be able to drive and possess a valid Driver’s license
- Have good investigation skills to champion incident investigation, reporting and closeout of actions
- Must possess effective team leadership skills
- Self-starting, taking initiatives, well-organized, timely, and persistent
- Must be a good influencer possess a strong work ethic and integrity.
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills are required
