- Monitor and assess the condition of critically ill patients in the ICU, including vital signs, ECG readings, and other physiological parameters.
- Work closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for ICU patients.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, ensuring accurate dosage and monitoring for any adverse reactions.
- Operate and maintain life support equipment, including ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring devices, and other specialized ICU equipment.
- Act as an advocate for patients and their families, providing emotional support and ensuring effective communication regarding the patient’s condition and treatment plan.
- Respond promptly to changes in patients’ conditions or emergencies, providing immediate and appropriate interventions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Implement and adhere to infection control protocols to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
- Educate patients and their families on the patient’s condition, treatment plan, and post-ICU care.
Job Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
- Completion of specialized training in critical care or ICU nursing.
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or similar certifications.
- Proficient in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS).
- Competency in the use of ICU equipment and technology.
- Ability to interpret and respond to critical patient indicators (vital signs, lab values, etc.).
- Strong critical thinking skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions in emergency situations.
- Effective communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Ability to convey complex medical information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Keen attention to detail for monitoring and documenting patient conditions accurately.
- Emotional resilience to cope with high-stress situations and provide compassionate care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Willingness to stay updated on advancements in critical care and nursing practices.
- Physical stamina to handle long shifts and demanding patient care tasks.
- Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic and fast-paced environment of the ICU.
