Job Title: Internal Auditor

General Responsibilities
- To assist the senior members of the audit team in fulfilling all engagement responsibilities, including ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness and timeliness of all audit reports and standard processes.
- To provide value-added and relevant analyses of an organization’s internal control structure, transaction information and analysis, performance, productivity, and efficiency.
- To support the goals and objectives of BEDC Electricity Plc.

- Rendering necessary operational support on all audit engagements.
- Supporting in the preparation of the draft of the audit report.
- Ensures compliance with established audit standards and control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
- Reviewing records to ensure that they are accurate and complete according to company standards
- Verify assets and liabilities, compare items to documentation, and complete audit work papers that document audit engagements and findings
- Monitoring cash flow and identifying problems with cash flow to prevent problems from occurring in the future
- Performing audits of financial records to ensure that they are accurate and comply with regulations
- Communicate audit findings and prepare a final report; discuss findings with the audit engagement manager.
- Identifying any errors in accounting practices or procedures and recommending solutions
- Prepare audits and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing accounting records to verify compliance with standards.
- Ensure compliance of the financial and accounting processes and procedures with global best practices and international accounting standards.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge that will improve upskilling and the overall quality of the audit services by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional institutes.
- Ensure continuous personal and professional development.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Any other duties as may be assigned to you by your manager.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Qualifications:
- First Degree or its equivalent in Accounting
- Qualification of any professional accounting body (ICAN, ABWA, ACCA, etc)
Experience:
- 3 years’ accounting experience in an audit firm
- Ability to use basic accounting software
- Basic knowledge of electricity distribution business
- Basic knowledge of IAS, IFRS, ISA, and audit methodologies.
- Elementary knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Simple knowledge of audit management platforms
- Basic knowledge of risk assessment and audit responses
- Advanced mathematical skills to perform complex calculations
Skills:
- Very good Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Reading Comprehension Skills
- Average Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint knowledge
- Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret relevant materials and reports.
- Ability to work under pressure
