Job Description
- As an IT Officer, your primary responsibility will be to provide technical support, maintain IT infrastructure, and ensure the smooth operation of computer systems, networks, and software applications within the organization.
- You will assist users with troubleshooting issues, implement security measures, manage hardware and software resources, and contribute to the overall IT strategy and technology roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to end-users by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Set up and maintain computer networks, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, troubleshoot network connectivity problems, and implement necessary adjustments.
- Maintain and administer servers, including installation, configuration, and regular updates and patches.
- Manage and maintain backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Ensure the security of computer systems, networks, and data by implementing and monitoring appropriate security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and access controls.
- Provide user training and support on software applications, including email, productivity tools, and specialized software.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions based on business needs, performance requirements, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices to ensure the organization remains technologically competitive.
- Document IT processes, procedures, and system configurations for knowledge sharing and reference.
- Manage IT assets, including hardware and software inventory, licensing, and maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for procurement, maintenance, and support of IT systems and services.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements relevant to IT operations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of IT policies, standards, and procedures.
- Assist in the development and execution of IT training programs for employees.
- Keep abreast of the organization’s goals, strategies, and technology needs to align IT initiatives accordingly.
- Support the IT Manager or IT team in various IT-related tasks and projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate) are advantageous.
- 1 – 5 years relevant work experience.
- Proven work experience as an IT Officer, IT Support Specialist, or similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills in computer hardware, software, and networks.
- Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and common software applications.
- Knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security principles.
- Experience in managing and maintaining servers, including Windows Server and Linux-based systems.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing platforms.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and common security threats.
- Ability to perform basic scripting and automation tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with users and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Project management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing technology trends and organizational needs.
