Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies: Create and execute strategies to optimize the procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services required for pipe manufacturing.
- Supplier management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their capabilities, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance.
- Procurement process management: Oversee the entire procurement process, including requisition processing, purchase order placement,
- tracking, and delivery. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Cost control and budgeting: Develop and manage procurement budgets, analyze costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost reduction strategies without compromising quality or delivery.
- Quality control and assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure purchased materials meet specified quality standards and are compliant with relevant regulations and certifications.
- Risk management: Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, such as supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and quality issues.
- Develop contingency plans to minimize the impact of potential risks.
- Team management: Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, industry trends, and pricing dynamics.
- Evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate contracts, and review terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as production, engineering, and finance departments, to understand their requirements and ensure timely procurement.
- Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Analyze data and metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- B.Sc / HND in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related fields
- Relevant certifications: Professional certifications such as
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or similar credentials are highly valued and can enhance job prospects. Industry knowledge:
- A strong understanding of the pipe manufacturing industry, including knowledge of materials, specifications, regulations, and market dynamics, is beneficial.
- Minimum of 5 years proven work experience in procurement or supply chain management roles, preferably within the pipe manufacturing industry or a related manufacturing sector, is typically required.
- Experience in managing a team and working with international suppliers may also be desirable.
- Proficient in SAGE 200
- Proficient in Microsoft office.
