Job Role
- A teaching assistant is a support role within an educational institution.A teaching assistant is a compassionate and self-motivated individual with a specific interest in education, you will be responsible for supervising students, developing lesson plans, preparing lesson material, and maintaining classroom tidiness.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the class or subject teacher with lesson planning, including creating lesson plans, preparing instructional materials, and grading assignments.
- Providing of classroom support, such as taking attendance, setting up equipment, or supervising students during class activities.
- providing individual support to students who need extra help, such as tutoring or one-on-one assistance.
- Responsible for grading assignments, tests, or other assessments.
- Assisting with research projects, including data collection, literature reviews, and analysis.
- Working with the class teacher to monitor the class schedule.
- Assisting the class or subject teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.
- Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
- Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean.
- Overseeing students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, and on-field excursions.
- Collaborating with class teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.
- Documenting student progress and communicating with parents to keep them informed.
- Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
- Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.
- Responsible for administrative tasks such as maintaining records, ordering supplies, or communicating with parents or other stakeholders.
KPI:
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the teaching assistant’s include:
- Student performance: This KPI measures the academic performance of students that a teaching assistant works with, such as their grades or test scores.
- Feedback from students: This KPI measures feedback from students about the teaching assistant’s effectiveness, helpfulness, and communication skills.
- Feedback from teachers: This KPI measures feedback from teachers about the teaching assistant’s ability to work collaboratively, their responsiveness, and the quality of support they provide.
- Attendance: This KPI measures the attendance of students in the classes where the teaching assistant is providing support.
- Timeliness and completeness of administrative tasks: This KPI measures the teaching assistant’s ability to complete administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Professional development: This KPI measures the teaching assistant’s participation in professional development activities such as workshops, training sessions, or conferences.
Other Conditions:
- Permanent position with opportunity for growth
- 3 months probation period
- Monday – Friday / 7am – 4pm
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education in a relevant field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a teaching assistant or similar role.
- Must have a compassionate and positive attitude.
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities.
- Must be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- in-depth knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods.
- Must be technology savvy
