Job Summary
- Traffic officer is responsible to ensure that there is a seamless process for loading, dispatch of trucks and ensure the safe and free flow of traffic to prevent road crashes and deaths on the roads.
- The traffic officer is also responsible for enforcing the rules of the road and signs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Give direction to trucks on where is appropriate to park while awaiting loading
- Manage the movement of trucks within and around strategic coverage areas
- Respond to request to decongest traffic congestion experienced by road users
- Submit daily traffic report on daily basis to the Traffic Supervisor
- Identify the root cause of traffic issues encountered and accordingly notify the Traffic Supervisor
- Proffer solutions on curtailing traffic issues
- Provide initial field training to newly recruited traffic assistants
Education and Work Experience
- National Diploma (N.D) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in any field.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience
- In-depth knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to handle various traffic situations
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions
- Knowledge of first aid and basic medical assistance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
