Job Summary
- Our Client is seeking to employ the services of an experienced Vice-Principal, Academics. The Vice Principal Academics is a senior leadership position within an academic institution, typically at the secondary or higher education level.
- The primary responsibility of the Vice Principal Academics is to oversee the academic programs offered by the institution, ensuring that they meet high standards of quality, rigor, and relevance.
- Overall, the Vice Principal Academics plays a critical role in ensuring that an academic institution is providing high-quality educational programs that meet the needs of students, faculty, and the wider community.
Responsibilities
- Leading the development and implementation of academic policies and programs, in collaboration with faculty and other administrators.
- Developing and implementing curriculum and instructional strategies that align with the institution’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Supervising faculty and staff to ensure that they are providing high-quality teaching and instruction and providing support and guidance to help them improve their performance.
- Developing and managing budgets for academic programs, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently.
- Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that academic programs are integrated with other aspects of the institution’s operations, such as student services, admissions, and marketing.
- Assessing and evaluating academic programs to ensure that they are meeting the needs of students and the institution and making recommendations for improvement.
- Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, such as employers, alumni, and community organizations, to ensure that academic programs are relevant and responsive to the needs of the wider community.
- Representing the institution at conferences, meetings, and other events, and communicating effectively with a variety of audiences, including students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Education / Degree in any field with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education
- Licensed and Registered with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN)
- Twelve years’ post-graduation experience at least four of which must be in a secondary school.
- At least two years in a position where he/she successfully supervised /lead team of teachers e.g., Head of Year, HOD, Coordinators etc.
- Verifiable work experience in a benchmark school with hybrid / blended curriculum such as operational in Start-Rite schools.
- Level 3 Certification in Safeguarding or other evidence of proficiency in caring for students’ and staff pastoral needs.
- Membership of subject specific professional bodies like STAN
- Proficiency is the use of technology and ability to coordinate and model its effective and strategic integration into the curriculum.
- Certified Cambridge coursework assessor and/ WAEC Examiner
- Track record of producing students with excellent results in external examinations
- Familiarity with accreditation requirements for notable local and International educational agencies (e.g., COBIS, NEASC etc.) and experience coordinating such.
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
