JOB TITLE: Head Teacher

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the classroom; including maintaining a harmonious and efficient work environment, ensuring breaks are taken at appropriate times, the daily schedule is followed, etc.
- Takes the lead with classroom Curriculum – Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation ensures lesson plans, curriculum plans, supply requests, etc., are completed on time. Meets all deadlines.
- Provides direction, when needed, for teaching staff/subs in the classroom.
- Assists with Families – Orientation and Communication
- Assists in the maintenance of appropriate standards for children’s discipline and behavior standards using non-punitive methods.
- Assisting with the implementation of new policies at the school and communicating with parents about any changes
- Overseeing the overall operation of the school, including hiring staff and managing their work performance
- Implement agreed-on school policies and guidelines
- Support initiatives decided by the Management Team
- Plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils, through adaptation of tasks, having the highest expectation of every child, and believing that every learner has unlimited potential for development
- Plan and deliver the curriculum within the framework of present school policies and procedures
- Set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for pupils learning
- Plan and resource a classroom that will encourage the development of all aspects of children’s learning.
- Provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils
- To develop and creatively expand the indoor and outdoor Learning Environment to ensure opportunities for imaginary play and learning
- Providing academic support to pupils who are struggling in a particular subject area.
- Reviewing student progress and evaluating teacher performance on an ongoing basis to ensure that all students are receiving a quality education
- Ensuring that the school is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations
- Evaluating the effectiveness of teachers and other school staff in order to identify training needs and recommend appropriate disciplinary action.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- 5-7 years in the teaching or Educational Administration
- M.Sc / MBA in Education Administration will be an added advantage
- Some types of Administrator certification
- Teacher’s license holder is essential
- Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and expression skills.
Salary
N170,000 – N200,000 / Month.
